Mazda Air Intake Hose
The Mazda air intake hose is the rubber tube that connects your vehicle’s air
filter box to the intake manifold. For better operation of the intake system,
the intake mechanisms must be all performing well. When the Mazda air intake hose
becomes old, dried, and or cracked, it is to be expected that its function will
be compromised. Know that air leaks can lead to weak engine performance, low gas
mileage and can possibly allow harmful particles into your engine. It is a good
preventive measure to replace the air intake hose for your Mazda vehicle. Basically,
a good air intake hose must feature direct bolt-on design for easy installation.
It must be built also to strict quality control standards and must be strong in
vulnerable areas for great durability. You can definitely add more reliability
to your vehicle with a durable Mazda air intake hose.
The primary function of Mazda air intake hoses is to carry fresh air from the
outside to the inlet of the engine. Basically, it is mounted to the front of the
vehicle allowing the air to be as cool as the outside air and not preheated. There
is a big possibility that the fuel-air mixture becomes richer if the air is preheated.
The temperature under the hood gets pretty high under some operating conditions.
Now, the purpose of the air intake hose is to draw cooler outside air into the
engine to maintain a more balanced air-fuel mixture. With bad air intake hose,
there will also be bad gas mileage and exhaust load-up. So just like other Mazda
auto parts, you need to replace a damaged hose to get your vehicle in good working
condition.
In installing the replacement, the new hose should stand at about the same angle
as the original hose if you do some cutting. The end with the angled cut will
go on the throttle bodies while the straight cut will go onto the air filter housing.
It is a requirement that the long side of the hoses be placed on the top, so the
hoses angle down from the throttle bodies. This angle is especially needed if
you have reinforced hose because you will not be able to bend the hose down to
match the angel necessary for reaching the air filter housing. Actually, you
may be able to bind it; however, this is not advisable as this
will cause a crimp in the hose, which cuts down on air flow. Without bending,
the angled cut will let you install the hose, providing you the best airflow.
This time, you have probably thought of purchasing new hose clamps for such job.
