Mazda Carburetor
Although Mazda carburetor is not utilized by most modern Mazda vehicles, it is
still present in some Mazda vehicle, particularly the older models. Mazda carburetors
were once popular component of Mazda vehicles during the 1970’s. It was a standard
component of the Mazda auto parts. Before the introduction of fuel injection,
the carburetor was the main component responsible for mixing fuel and air. Its
main role is to properly mix the right amount of air and fuel to maintain optimal
engine performance. If there is low amount of air, it will result in a rich mixture.
There would be too much fuel that will be left unburned. On the other hand, if
there is too little fuel, this will result in lean mixture. Both lean and rich
mixtures are detrimental to the performance of the automobile engine.
Rich and lean mixture will cause the automobile to easily stall or bog down.
A rich mixture will only cause in the waste of fuel. On the other hand, a lean
mixture will only result in the production of nitrogen oxide pollutants. A carburetor
prevents these scenarios from happening by providing the correct mixture of fuel.
A Mazda carburetor works by channeling the air flow so that miniature vortexes
are created. The fuel is also drawn in to be atomized so that it can combine more
efficiently with the oxygen in the air. Essentially, the carburetor is a tube
that channels air and fuel. It premixes air and fuel before the mixture is channeled
to the combustion chambers.A Mazda carburetor has four basic parts, namely, the
throttle plate, the venturi and the jet. The throttle plate is an adjustable plate
across the tube. It regulates the amount of air flowing in the tube. The venturi
is the narrowing in the tube. It is through this narrowing that vacuum is created.
The jet is the hole in the venturi. The venture lets the vacuum draws in the fuel.
The carburetor is said to be in full throttle if the throttle plate is parallel
to the length of the tube. This allows maximum amount of air to flow in the tube.
The air flow creates a vacuum that suck a proportional amount of fuel.Carburetors
are not totally outmoded auto parts. They still serve useful purpose in some vehicles
and other power tool. For instance, the lawnmower engine still utilizes carburetor
to properly mix fuel and air. Carburetors are also present in special purpose
automobiles such as race cars. Although less precise, carburetors are durable
and reliable enough. If you own an old model vehicle, it is better to install
a carburetor rather than try to modify the intake system of the vehicle. Carburetors
are very inexpensive and can easily be purchased online.
