Mazda Header Pipe
The Mazda header pipe is a component of the headers and the whole exhaust system.

For the whole headers to perform relatively well, they must conform to a number
of standards. The primary header pipes must be small enough to maintain the strength
of the compression waves and suction waves in the pipes. However, they must be
large enough to allow the optimal flow of the gases that pass the exhaust valve
down the header pipes. They must also be of proper length to ensure the correct
arrival time of the scavenging wave that will be reflected back to the exhaust
valve.
The collector, on the other hand, must be of proper diameter and length so as
to provide the correct duration and the intensity of the scavenging wave. The
primary header pipes and the collectors must necessarily produce a scavenging
wave that is present at the exhaust valve during the valve overlap period over
an established operating RPM range of the engine. With these pipes crafted according
to these considerations, they are guaranteed to deliver the right performance
at the right time.
